Scanner Epson Perfection 1270 does not work in Ubuntu Linux 6.10
Recently have on a working computer the scanner. Stupid oak Epson Perfection 1270. Photos and any other papers scans, on my not corrupted taste, perfectly well. Stood at me for that moment Ubuntu 6.06, the scanner in it was not defined, and I have connected it, without thinking twice, to VMware (that is to Win2KS). There it long and reliably worked with native Epson software, being automatically connected on Win’s USB at inclusion of the scanner in a network. And then because of passion to last versions of the Linux apps I have updated the distributive. In it other history has ceased to work Java, but it absolutely. The history with Java has ended with reinstallation Edgy Eft from zero.
Has reinstalled. It is time to include the scanner. As though not so.
After several hours of thoughtful search on the Internet I have concluded, that in most Ubuntu there is a bug, and it does not allow to work to it and still to some scanners. It at all bug Ubuntu, and most likely kernels. In any case, eventually xscanimage-L and sane-find-scanner have defined mine Epson. It is defined, tested, gets warm, and gives out I/O error further. All right, I think, I shall use further the scanner with a native software in Windows. As though not so.
After even pair hours of reading of clever texts it was defined not that that a bug, and the feature of new kernels which is not allowing VMware automatically reconnect the scanner with Linux’s USB on.
As a result the recipe has been found such. The scanner should be found by means of xsane, xscanimage or that there still. For this purpose recipes on the Internet are (it is necessary to download or to take from Windows a bin file with the driver of the scanner and to register it in a xsane config file). After that it is necessary to load VMware with the disconnected option “automatically connect USB-devices when the virtual machine has focus“. And in menu called VM of your virtual machine check the checkbox named Removable Devices – USB Devices – Epson Scanner. All works! And if such checkbox is not present, you, most likely, have not included and have not found the scanner preliminary in Ubuntu.
)) OddMuse perfectly works in any browser because has no modern features. This wiki is easily installed on free hosting on which isn’t present MySQL, but is Perl (fatal.ru, for example).
